Trailwalker UK 2012 is an epic 100KM team challenge across the South Downs with the Gurkhas, and it needs to be completed in under 30 hours...whatever the weather, with no sleep! The Trailwaker route's distance and elevation is equivalent to two and half marathons and climbing Ben Nevis and Snowdon all in 30 hours...ouch!
This is regarded as one of the most challenging charity event in the world!
Trailwalker raises money for The Gurkha Welfare Trust and Oxfam.
The Gurkha Welfare Trust relieves poverty and distress among Gurkha ex-servicemen and their dependants. Funds raised through Trailwalker 2012 will help provide clean, safe drinking water and sanitiation facilities in numerous Gurkha villages.
Oxfam is a global movement aiming to end poverty. Money raised through Trailwalker 2012 is not tied to a specific project and can be used where it is needed most.
This is the first charity event I have taken part in so please help me reach my target! This is an epic challenge that I am determined to finish, it is both physically and mentally challenging and I am already training insanely hard! Bring on the 14th July!
I am completing this event with staff students from York St John University and together we are hoping to raise over £3000. My personal aim is £500 and I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
